Orca Killer Whales
The Orcas at Loro Parque are a big icon there. Many people across the globe come to see their amazing show. But before 2006, if you were visiting Loro Parque, you wouldn't have been lucky enough to observe them, because, in 2006, all four of these beauties flew all the way from Sea World, Orlando, in America, (yes, you read right, America!) The four wonderful Orcas are between 5 and 13 years old and they belong in the third generation of Orcas born in captivity at Sea World. The four Orcas live happily alongside each other in the most unique pools that are between 8 and 12.5 metres deep and 120 metres long. A wonderful place for the four beauties to live comfortably together. These huge pools have a massive 22.5 million litres of pure sea water, directly from the Atlantic Ocean, from depths of 65 metres, pumped into them! These pools aren't just any random temperature, no, they are kept at a cooling 13 degrees constantly with the Sand Fliter System. With all the magnificent space of these pools, the Orca Trainers can take extra special care of these wonderful creatures. The trainers develop such a true, strong bond, the Orca show you can watch at Loro Parque is simply breath-taking. You can see what amazing depths these people go to, to look after such wonderful sweet creatures!
